Disposal of Refuse
Please keep garbage in bags until you reach a disposal location. Never throw garbage into the water. If you are on a beach, please carry any trash back to your boat and dispose of at locations indicated below. Plastic is dangerous to sea turtles, so please make sure to dispose of plastic bags, six-pack rings and other small plastic and rubber items such as water balloons.
U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS
Throwing garbage or refuse of any kind is prohibited. Discharge of plastics in any ocean or navigable waters is banned by the International MARPOL law. Ground food waste can not be dumped less than three miles from shore.
Food waste, paper, rags, glass, metal, bottles and similar materials may not be discharged less than 12 miles from shore. Floating dunnage may not be dumped less than 25 miles from shore. Trash should be stored on board until a proper receptacle is found on shore.
